Sabbath School for a New Generation

Among Seventh Day Adventists, Sabbath School is a time for discussion and learning. It is the belief of this site that Sabbath School should be an exciting venue for the discussion of new ideas, instead of rehashing old arguments. So welcome to a virtual Sabbath School, a Sabbath School for a new generation.

Last Sabbath

This last Sabbath, May 6th, was a milestone. It was my last Sabbath School class. I kept it fairly informal. I was hoping to just recap why I started the class and what I feel is important. Unfortunately, I ran out of time to cover everything.

That night we had my graduation party. About thirty people attended, including some family (most of my family will be attending Graduation Party: Oregon Edition), a couple of friends from school and church members. I do have to share one of the funniest gifts. I got a retirement fund from my Sabbath School class.

So I know longer have to worry about my future!

Adventist Carnival

Michael Arcand on Abundant Rest beat me to the Adventist Blog Carnival. I have been busy lately, since my life is in full transition. So maybe its better that somebody else is spearheading this. I encourage you all to participate. The deadline for submissions is May 14.

In the news

My wife and I have been staying in a hotel for the last week (looking for a house in preparation for our move.) Of course almost all hotels have at least one 24 hour news channel. I have been amazed at just how much racist hate has been filling those news stations. Some of it is being expressed by the news anchors. Fox news, of course, is the worst offender, but even CNN has been intolerable. I thought we as a society had come a long way since the civil rights movement, but I guess I was naive.
